Grady Stiles was a freak show performer who suffered from a deformity called ectrodactyly, which ran in the family. His claw-like hands earned him the nickname ‘’Lobster Boy’’. Grady married a woman named Maria and had four children, but divorced due to his intense abuse and alcoholism. In 1978, Grady shot and killed his daughter’s fiancé the day before their wedding. He was brought to trial where he openly confessed to the killing, but since no prison was equipped to care for someone with his deformity, he was instead released on probation. After the murder, Grady stopped drinking for a while, and he remarried Maria. However, it wasn’t long before Grady would succumb to his alcoholic urges and he became even more violent than before. Maria feared for her family’s lives so she and her son from another marriage hired a 17-year-old sideshow performer named Chris to kill her drunkard husband for $1500. The deed was done when the Lobster Boy was shot three times in the back of the head. Chris was convicted of second-degree murder and was sentenced to 27 years in prison. Maria’s son, Harry, who aided her in hiring the assassin, was given life in prison for his role as the mastermind. Maria was given 12 years in prison for conspiracy to commit the murder.
